BREASTPLATES (process)



These small paintings on heavy cotton paper have as their compositional 'template' the turtle shell,
a form that references the Gulf crisis and suggests to me the following - 


breastplate
protective shield
sacred space
shelter
multi-chambered heart


each of which we do well to take care of
